Modern Times

It’s no news that East Asia and especially China developed at a high pace during the last twenty years. The Chinese people are preparing now for the year of the ox, which will start on 26th of January and that’s also a welcome occasion for the MYFAREAST.NET-Team to think about this year’s topics.

We decided to focus on the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China (1949-2009) and dedicate our time on reports and interviews on its history and future. To find the way back into the political circumstances of the 20ies and 30ies of the last century we will start with a review on ‘The Classic Account of the Birth of Chinese Communism’, Edgar Snows ‘Red Star over China’.

This will be opposed to an online survey among young Chinese in which we will try to find out their opinion about the past of their country and what they hope for their personal future while actually living under the Red Star of China. Follow this Link to the survey.

Another highlight will be the unpublished memories of a Red Army Officer who was on duty during the campaign to today’s Xinjiang province.

Despite the actual economy-crisis we will also do our share in the field of economy-reports and focus our view on the ‘China Investment Corporation’. This Fund is worth $200 billion and it’s the worlds fourth largest Sovereign Wealth Fund. We will observe their investments and discuss their strategies.

With these reports and stories covering past and present, the fields of Literature, Film, Politics and Economy, we hope to present you an inspiring year of the ox and we are looking forward to your comments and suggestions.

We wish you a successful 2009 – 恭喜发财.
